Professional Installation of a Clamber Stack at Christ Church C of E Junior School

Overview of a clamber stack at a school

We are delighted to share a case study of the successful installation of a Clamber Stack at Christ Church Junior School in Bristol. In this article, we will walk you through the entire project, from inception to completion, highlighting the considerations made along the way.

Securing Funding for Play Equipment

The school and PTA demonstrated exceptional teamwork, working diligently for almost a year to raise funds for the project. It is truly remarkable how friends, parents, and local businesses rallied together, generously donating both their time and money to create a play area that brings immense benefits to current and future generations of children.

Understanding the Cost of Clamber Stacks

Unsurprisingly, the price of a Clamber Stack varies depending on its complexity. At Signet Play, we offer a range of options to suit different budgets. While some Clamber Stacks may cost a few thousand pounds, larger and more intricate structures like the Clamber Castle can amount to tens of thousands of pounds.

The overall cost is influenced by factors such as the design of the Clamber Stack, accessibility to the installation site, the need for a safety surface, and the timing of the installation.

For a comprehensive understanding of pricing, we encourage you to get in touch with our friendly team, who will be more than happy to assist you.

The Power of Children's Choice

The selection process for the Clamber Stack at Christ Church Junior School involved giving the children a voice. They were presented with a range of options and given the opportunity to vote for their preferred Clamber Stack design. This inclusive approach empowered the students, teaching them about democracy and the impact of their opinions. By involving the children in the decision-making process, the school ensured that the chosen Clamber Stack would be enthusiastically utilized by the majority of students, enhancing their play experience.

Exciting Features of the Clamber Stack

The selected Clamber Stack, known as the Clamber Stack Zietta, offers a wide array of exciting features that captivated the children's imaginations. This larger Clamber Stack boasts an impressive 71 square meters of wooden play equipment, including over 30 horizontal logs for climbing, walking, and crawling.

It features two spacious netted areas, a balance rope walk, a climbing wall, a drop rope walk challenge, a cargo net climb wall, a dual log climber, and a traverse wall. These engaging elements provide endless opportunities for play, exploration, and physical development.

Sustainability and Durability

At Signet Play, we prioritize sustainability and durability. The Clamber Stack Zietta is crafted from sustainably sourced FSC-certified woods.

We offer different wood options, each with its own guarantee period: FSC-certified softwoods with a 10-year guarantee, FSC-certified radiata pine with a 15-year guarantee, and FSC-certified softwoods combined with steel feet with a remarkable 20-year guarantee.

To ensure longevity, the Clamber Stack Zietta is designed with steel feet that elevate the logs, allowing moisture to drain away and preserving the structure's integrity.

Safe and Professional Installation

Our team at Signet Play understands the importance of safety during installation. We carefully cordon off the area, ensuring a safe working environment for our team and curious onlookers. Ground surveying equipment is employed to guarantee the Clamber Stack is installed level and accurately. Skilled operators, trained in excavator operations up to 10 tons, expertly mark out the hole locations and excavate the ground.

The Clamber Stack is then assembled like a giant 3D jigsaw puzzle, with each piece interlocking seamlessly. Once all the bolts, ropes, nets, and ancillary items are securely fixed, the upright posts are concreted into place. After the concrete sets, the Clamber Stack stands independently, ready for children to enjoy.

Prioritizing Safety with the Right Surface

Safety surfaces play a crucial role in playground equipment. The fall free height (FFH), also known as Critical Fall Height (CFH), is a critical consideration. In the case of the Clamber Stack Zietta, the FFH exceeds the limit that allows play equipment to be used on soft earth or grass without an additional safety surface.

To address this, the school opted for a 50mm thick layer of rubber mulch, made from recycled forklift tyres. The rubber mulch provides a safe surface, ensuring a permitted FFH of 2.75m, surpassing the requirements and offering enhanced protection for the children.

Joy and Satisfaction: Children's Response

The true measure of success lies in the joy and satisfaction of the children. As our team was wrapping up the project, the children lined up to give us three cheers—a heart warming moment that makes all the hard work worthwhile.

Witnessing their excitement and knowing the lasting fun and happiness the Clamber Stack will bring to countless children in the years to come is the ultimate reward.
